Nobel Economics Prize Winner Richard Thaler Praised Modi’s Note-Ban, but Surprised with Rs. 2,000 Notes

Richard Thaler, who is a professor of Economics and Behavioural Science at University of Chicago and also a 2017 Nobel Economics Prize winner called Modi’s demonization policy one that he “long supported” in a tweet, adding that it was a first step towards “cashless and good start on reducing corruption”. However, after learning that the Modi government had introduced Rs. 2,000 notes by reading the comments, he responded with another tweet: “really? Damn”.
