OBC Creamy Layer Income Cap Increased to Rs. 8 Lakhs Per Annum

According to an official release today, the upper limit for the OBC reservation “creamy layer” has been increased from the current Rs. 6 lakh to Rs. 8 lakh per annum.

As per the change, children of the people with annual income Rs. 8 lakhs will no longer fall under the creamy layer category and thus won’t receive the reservation benefits.

The government has also decided to set up a commission that will divide the OBCs quota into sub-categories so that the ones actually “underprivileged” can receive the reservation benefits.
