Part of Air India Could be Sold to Foreign Airline

The Indian government is open to selling a portion of Air India’s stake to a foreign airline, people aware of the developments in the matter said.

Air India is currently under massive debt. Around 30,000 cr of this debt was moved to a separate holding company by the government which makes the existing debt at around ₹30,000 cr.

The people familiar with Air India’s situation said that the government may invite preliminary bids for Air India by Oct 10.
