IT Prosecution Complaints Grow Three Times in Apr-Nov

The income tax department said that it received 2,225 complaints during April-November 2017 for offenses that come under the Income Tax Act, which are almost three times the complaints it received during the same period last year.
The tax department also said that 48 individuals were convicted for several offenses, up by 269% from the last year’s 13 individuals.
The ministry said that the tax department has given the highest priority to tackling the black money issue and has initiated a number of proceedings pertaining to the tax evaders.
