RBI announces ₹50,000 cr for healthcare infrastructure

Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das on Wednesday announced ₹50,000 crore priority lending by banks for hospitals, oxygen providers, vaccine importers, COVID drugs and other COVID-related healthcare infrastructure framework till March 31, 2022.

In an unscheduled address, the Governor said that the circumstance in the nation has turned around from being on foothills of strong economic recuperation to confronting a fresh crisis.

Reestablishing livelihoods has got a objective, he said. “We don’t anticipate any broad deviation in our projections,” Mr. Das added.

He said that the RBI will keep on checking the COVID-19 circumstance in the country, and will deploy all resources for the benefits of citizens, business entities, and organizations affected.

RBI Governor said that the normal monsoon forecast will help contain food price inflation.
