RBI Finds Consumer Confidence Lowest in Past 3 Years

Economists and analysts may be divided on the impact of the economic slowdown but a survey taken by the Reserve Bank of India shows that the consumers are losing confidence with each passing quarter.

The consumer confidence index, which is based on the average consumer’s current perception of the economy, is at its lowest since December 2013.  A graphical representation of the ratings also shows that the value stated dropped especially after November last year, which was the time when the government launched the demonetization movement.

The survey for the consumer confidence index is conducted in the following six cities- New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru.
