RBI to Sell Government Securities Worth Rs. 10,000 cr Via OMO

India’s central bank RBI has announced the sale of Rs. 10,000 crore worth of government securities through Open Market Solutions. The sale, which is the third in the current fiscal, will be conducted on August 10.

The government usually runs an OMO sale when it wants to extract the excess liquidity from the system. Similarly, it makes an OMO purchase when it wants to infuse liquidity in the system.

Bond markets experts say they were expecting the sale and estimate a Rs. 40,000 crore sale of securities this fiscal.
