RBI to Tackle Cyberattacks Through Subsidiary

RBI is set to establish a new subsidiary in Mumbai to beef up cyber security.
The unit will have four departments, each of which will have a different area of focus. These are:
- Cyber security research
- Central bank network monitoring and assisting in electronic operations such as NEFT, RGTS, etc.
- Monitoring of computer systems of banks and their cyber security cells
- Specialized projects pertaining to cyber security
RBI said that they want to make electronic payments safer with bolstered cyber security. They are also recruiting cyber security professionals for the same reason.
The unit is expected to be fully operational in a year.
