Retailers Seek Cash Bills Format Review Under GST

As the consumers are getting “confused” by the new cash bill format established under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime, the Retailers Association of India (RAI) has made an appeal to the finance ministry to revise the same.

In a letter addressed to the finance minister, RAI said that the new bill format is causing many challenges in the B2C industry. This is because GST requires the cash bills to mention the GST rates as well as the HS code for every item sold by a retailer. Since the consumers are used to only one item i.e. the Maximum Retail Price printed on the goods, the new format is “confusing” to them.
