Rs. 40,000 Crores GST Tax Collected from 13 Lakh Assessees

According to senior government officials, the government has collected Rs. 40,000 crores in revenue in the form of Goods and Services Tax (GST) from 13 lakh assessees who had filed their returns so far. However, 22 lakh assessees are yet to file theirs even though they have filled the required details in the GTSN portal.

Out of the Rs. 40,000 crores received, Rs. 15,000 crores have been collected as IGST, about Rs. 5,000 crores as cess on demerit goods such as cigarettes and luxury cars, etc. and the remaining Rs. 20,000 crores as CGST and SGST.
