Rs. 90,000 cr worth of Mobiles Manufactured in India in Fiscal ‘17

In a written reply to Rajya Sabha, Telecom Minister Manoj Sinha said that India had produced mobile phones worth Rs. 90,000 crores in the financial year 2016-17. He mentioned that in FY ’15 the total worth of mobile phones produced in India was Rs. 18,900 crores, which grew to Rs. 54,000 crores in FY ’16, and then Rs. 90,000 crore in the last fiscal. Moreover, imports have fallen to 76 million units in FY 2016-17 from 146 million units during 2015-16 and 210 million units during 2014-15.
