Rural Areas More Comfortable with Biometric Payment Systems, IDFC Bank Says

Private sector IDFC bank said that it’s easier to promote and deploy biometric payment systems in the rural areas than the urban areas because here the people are not uncomfortable with using their fingerprints for initiating transactions for purchases, etc.

Amit Kumar, head of personal banking in IDFC bank said that using Aadhaar-based payments is easy in rural areas as the residents are accustomed to using fingerprints. Earlier they would give their fingerprints on paper, now they are giving the same on digital devices. In addition to that, using debit cards and credit cards is difficult for them as these require them to remember and enter PIN.
