SBI Changes Names, IFSC Codes of 1,300 Branches

India’s largest lender State Bank of India has changed the names and IFSC codes of about 1,300 branches, most of which are in Kolkata, New Delhi, Mumbai, Lucknow, etc. This is mainly on the account of the merger of its five associate banks.

SBI Managing Director Praveen Gupta said that since some of the old associate branches are getting merged with the SBI branches, the IFSC codes will be changed post process completion. He also said that customers needn’t worry as even if someone will initiate a payment for the old IFSC codes, they will be automatically redirected according to the new codes.
