SBI Wrote Off Rs. 20,000 cr Worth of Bad Loans in FY17

As per the government data, public Sector State Bank of India wrote off as many as Rs. 20,339 crores worth of bad loans during the financial year 2016-17. This was the highest figure compared to other PSBs during the same period, even though their combined amount of written off bad loans stood at Rs. 81,683 crores.

The data also shows that 9 out of 21 PSBs had a gross NPA ratio above 15%.
