Standard Chartered Bank and Citibank Become SWIFT India’s Shareholders

Global financial information messaging platform SWIFT(Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication) announced that Standard Chartered Bank and Citibank have joined its Indian wing as shareholders.

SWIFT entered India as a joint venture of SWIFT SCRL and 9 banks in 2012. It opened for a second capital call recently during which Standard Chartered Bank and Citibank showed keen interest in becoming a part of the initiative.

Currently, the shareholders of SWIFT India are SBI, Union Bank of India, SWIFT SCRL, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, Citibank, Standard Chartered Bank, and PNB.
