Strengthening Banks Immediate Priority, Says Arun Jaitley

Finance minister Arun Jaitley said that to support the sectors that are in dire need of credit including the MSMEs, the lending capacity of the banks must be improved as soon as possible.
Jaitley was addressing a gathering at the 100th anniversary of the Union Bank of India (UBI) via a video conference when he said that the main focus of the Finance Ministry is to bolster the banking sector as that’s necessary for economic growth. He also said that the government’s efforts towards minimizing non-performing assets (NPAs) are paying off.
