Tamil Nadu to Receive $318 Million Loan from World Bank for Irrigation Projects

The Tamil Nadu Irrigated Agriculture Modernisation Project is to receive a funding of 318 million USD from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, a part of World Bank, which will help in the improvement of water management practices and provide more opportunities to the farmers.

A loan agreement was signed this Tuesday between the World Bank, the government of India, and the government of Tamil Nadu.

The project aims at modernizing about 4,800 irrigation tanks and 477 check dams to improve the overall irrigation infrastructure.
