Things to Know About United Forum of Bank Unions Strike Tomorrow

Unhappy with the government’s decision of banks’ mergers and a few additional issues, Union Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has decided to call a nation-wide strike on August 22.
- UFBU comprises of nine unions including National Organisation of Bank Workers (NOBW) and All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA), etc.
- Some of the union demands include the elimination of write-off for corporate banks’ NPAs, criminalization of wilful defaulting, etc.
- While several banks are likely to be affected by the strike, private sector banks such as Axis Bank, ICICI Bank expect normal operations save for check clearance delays.
