Toyota, Uber Invest 1 bn USD in Uber to Push Services of Driverless Cars

This Friday, Investment fund SoftBank Vision Fund and auto giant Toyota announced that they would invest 1 billion USD in Uber to promote the development of driverless ridesharing services. The investment comes at a time when Uber’s planning a public share offering which is expected to be largest that the industry has seen in a while.

Uber had earlier received 500 million USD from Toyota which is actively working on manufacturing self-driving cars. Top Japanese parts maker DENSO has also shown interest in partnering with the ride-sharing company and said that it will go to Uber’s Advanced Technologies Group to help in automated ridesharing technologies.
