Union Bank of India’s Former chairman Debabrata Sarkar joins BOI board

The Bank of India board has appointed the former chairman of Union Bank of India Debabrata Sarkar as its shareholder director.

Sarkar, who is an also an independent director in LIC Housing Finance, is the only commercial banker amid the non-executive members in the Bank of India’s board.

Sarkar started his banking career in 1982 by joining Bank of Baroda as a scale II officer. He was promoted to the position of general manager later on, and then to the executive director of Allahabad Bank in 2009 end, and finally to the chairman of the Union Bank of India.
