With Rs. 200 Notes Announced, FM Arun Jaitley Clears Air Regarding Rs. 2,000 Notes

Putting an end to the speculation regarding the phasing out of Rs. 2,000 currency notes in India post the launch of the new Rs. 200 notes, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley confirmed that the government has no such plans.
Jaitley was at a cabinet briefing when he confirmed the status of the Rs. 2,000 currency notes which were launched in November 2016 after the RBI ceased the circulation of Rs. 1,000 notes by stating there is “no discussion within the Government of phasing out Rs. 2,000 notes”
