World Bank approves $1 billion fund to help poor citizens of India

During the worldwide coronavirus spread, the World Bank has approved $1 billion aid to support India’s poor citizens to provide social assistance. The fund for the protection of poor citizens of India is linked to the central government’s programs.

World Bank said that the billion-dollar social protection package was in addition to the previous package of $1 billion allocated to India to fight the coronavirus battle.

Junaid Kamal Ahmad, World Bank Country Director (India) said, “The World Bank’s billion-dollar aid for the protection of poor will help India leverage it is PM Garib Kalyan Yojana”.
