What are the Various Jobs in the Banking Sector?
Banking is easily one of the biggest sectors in India with ample opportunities for the young professionals. Ambitious graduates are especially attracted towards vacancies in the public sector banks which are typically filled on the basis of the IBPS examination.

All the jobs in public and private sector banks can be classified as:

1. Clerks
Clerical jobs serve as the gateway to the banking sector and can be looked into by candidates who have passed their 12th class. 

A clerk is responsible for maintaining accounts, creating reports and helping out the staff as well as the customers. 

Average salary: 4,28,468 INR

2. Probationary Officers (POs)
A probationary officer is a good enter-level job in the banking sector that offers a high salary and several perks. Plus, if you are selected, then you can get promotions and secure even more rewarding and prestigious positions such as managing director or even the CEO. 

In most cases, the eligibility criteria for PO job is graduation in any domain.

Average salary: 5,44,700 INR

3. Specialist Officers
As the name suggests, a specialist officer is appointed for a specific area such as public relations, marketing, engineering, etc. So, a specialist officer who has an engineering background can be hired for the maintenance of the IT infrastructure of a bank. Similarly, there are agriculture officers who oversee and facilitate agriculture loans and help the customers in the rural areas.

Average salary (IT officer): 4,56,700 INR

4. Managers and Assistant Managers
The banks hire employees as managers when they have years of experience in the sector. They also look for additional features such as an MBA degree, or background in management in some other way. After many more years of experience, they can also be promoted to branch managers, chief managers, assistant general managers, deputy general managers, etc.

Average salary (manager): 9,60,000 INR
