College entrance: The sky’s the limit  | India Today Insight

Akhil Shahani, Managing director of the Shahani Group and CEO, Ask.CAREERS, says, “In the current exam-oriented education system, most government-recognized colleges admit students based on their scores in class 12 and common entrance tests for engineering and medicine. The exam pattern hasn’t changed much, and many students take tuitions to crack it and get high marks. It is therefore getting easier for students to score 90 percent and above in most exams. Due to this, the merit list for admission into colleges has high cut-off percentages.
