Here is the thing, b-schools are available in India a dime a dozen. However, not every institute is good enough. So, it’s important that you look for the following 10 things before finalizing one for yourself:

1. The location of the b-school is very important. This is because if it’s located in a small city or town, then you may not get as many employment opportunities as the metro cities or other big cities.
2. You want to ensure that the institute offers a curriculum with a practical approach. In other words, while it’s theoretical course should be comprehensive, there should also be programs that encourage real-life experiences.
3. The professors of the institute should be highly educated and have extensive management background.
4. By enrolling yourself in a foreign university you can learn a lot from the diversity of students that are there, which is a huge advantage.
5. You can check the track record of the b-school regarding the employment opportunities offered. A good institute should be able to attract the top corporates that can offer good employment to its graduates.
6. Although you may not require a first-class infrastructure in your b-school that’s synonymous with 5-star hotels, it should at least be decent. For instance, the hostel, playground, library, computer lab should be up to mark.
7. MBA programs can be expensive. However, you can look for institutes that offer scholarships to meritorious students.
8. Campus life is another thing to look into. The students, professors, staff etc. should be friendly.
9. Some institutes offer enticements like free laptops, food, course material, etc. which also lower your financial burden. So, if you can find a good institute that offers these, it can be a big plus.
10. Lastly, you can check if the b-school is accredited. There are only 1,000 such institutes in India, out of the 3,500+ total. By joining an accredited institute, you get benefits like credit transfer, better education, and financial aid, etc.
