TSCFM Supports CII Annual Regional Meeting

Mr. Gokam laid emphasis on creating a skilled work force required by the market and a need to put resources to address supply constarints. Mr. Godrej felt that for stimulating growth we need good governance, good infrastructure and great human resources. He strongly felt that companies with a culture of openness, transparency and accountability will be the front runners.

Praveen Toshniwal, Chairman, CII Western Region focussed on enhancing capacity, transparency and fiscal discipline for good governance. Pradeep Bhargava, Deputy Chairman, CII was optimistic about India’s strong resilence and fundamentals, but felt we need to focus on key challenge areas like infrastructure and effective governance to ensure sustained growth.
Anuradha Bhavnani, Regional Director of Shell Foundation, who is working towards building and nurturing innovative entrepreneurial partnerships remarked that enterprise based models for sustainability are needed. Vice President of HSBC and Yi National Co Chair for Employability, Padmini Sundaram focused on soft skill development. She lamented the fact that Industry and Government were not proactive on this front.
In fact the biggest takeaway from the panel discussion was that there is a lack of employability due to limited industry academia interaction. Mr. Godrej and Mr. Madhur Bajaj underlined the importance of focussing on human resource development. Mr Farhad Forbes, Director of Forbes Marshall remarked that CII should take on the responsibility of creating an industry ready work force. Mrs. Maya Shahani, Chairperson of Centre for Management shared with him that CFM was the proud receipient of the DNA Award for the best business school in the category of Industry Academia linkages and could work in tandem with CII on this front.
It was decided that Charu Mathur, Regional Director of CII will work with Centre for Management to take this forward. Ms. Padmini Sundaram who has recently taken over as the National Co- Chair for the Employability Vertical for CII – Young Indians also agreed to work together with Centre for Management.
The CII is keen to ensure manpower availability and quality of workforce. It plans to focus on education to create technical and skilled human resources for industry as well as the overall economic development of the region. Towards this end it hopes to create a talent pool of employable resources. Indeed a great opportunity for Centre for Management.
