1. A very warm welcome Sir, what brings you to India?

Ans. I have been coming to India since 2009 and for the last 5 years I have been coming here for 4-5 months primarily direct theatre , teach actors and work with some dancers. For the last 15 years I have been using my theatre techniques to teach corporate and management students to instill in them creativity. Guiding them to enhance their presentation and communication skills , critical thinking .I have been working with the students Goa Institute of Management and after having met Harsh I am here.

2.Generally Management and Corporate world is perceived to be very cut throat , ambitious. Where do you strike a balance between this kind of materialism and the detachment that is associated with creative people?

Ans. I believe that everything that we do whether in our career or in our social life has a creative base to it .Management students need to have problem solving skills, they need to have creative as well as critical thinking .Also they need to be able to communicate and present themselves. From a technical perspective the skills of an actor are very useful for voice modulation, breathe control , relaxation ,controlling nerves but I mainly stress on the critical thinking aspect which will help students in their future corporate lives .

3.Do you think the people are born with creative instincts or that it is developed over a period of time?

Ans. I think we are all born with creativity .Everyone has a creative side to their personalities. Some people have a natural talent and they end up being an actor, a composer or a musician. Its a gift.

4.How receptive are the students here. Also is the theatre scenario here different from that in Australia?

Ans. Its quite similar. There is a lot of Western theatre tradition here in India. I have also seen a lot of Marathi and Hindi theatre but story telling is universal everywhere.I have never had a studet say no .I ensure that they know that I am not coming to teach them how to become an actor.My main aim is to draw out their creative side which will help them.
