This video brilliantly captures the fact as to how media in Bangladesh has broken the shackles of taboo topics and given a voice to people at large. The citizens are provided a platform on which they can express their views regarding governance, health, social topics, and humanitarian issues. People who are in authority are asked questions by ordinary citizens. Local and National broadcasters play a very significant role in this endeavor. There are programs which are telecast on mainstream television channels which depict the prevailing problems as well resolution of the same. Citizens learn the English language through television, the internet, Print media and English tutorials. The penetration of internet and smartphones in the rural areas also helps this cause. This has given the citizens immense confidence. In addition to citizens imbibing the positives via media, they have also come together to tackles issues which affect their daily lives. Communities work tirelessly so as to enable them to combat drought, floods or any other natural calamities. Coordination is done with various government agencies as well as NGOs so as to minimise disasters in every way. Even radio stations broadcast programs which deal with adolescent issues as well as sexual health. Thus, we see how media can educate and encourage people to live in a better world. It is not possible to change things overnight but it is possible to make a beginning which can change lives forever.
