Common Myths About Digital Marketing
October 22, 2018
Digital marketing is a vast domain that comprises a slew of formats, techniques, and technologies. However, this means it has its share of misconceptions too. In this blog, we take a look at the top 4 myths about digital marketing.
Myth #1: Digital Marketing isn’t Meant for Small Businesses
There are many mom-and-pop stores, small businesses, and self-employed professionals who think that digital marketing won’t do them any good. They think it’s an expensive form of marketing which only the large businesses can benefit from. However, nothing could be further from the truth. It’s actually the small businesses that need digital marketing the most. It’s extremely cheap and allows a business to reach a wider market easily.
For instance, any entrepreneur can create a professional Facebook page to market their products and connect to the customers.
Myth #2: SEO Techniques Don’t Change
One of the most important aspects of digital marketing whenever content is involved is Search Engine Optimization (SEO). It allows you to increase your blog’s or website’s online visibility especially on the search engine results page (SERP). However, the idea “set it, and forget it” doesn’t work here. This is because popular search engines like Google continually change the way they assess the value of a web page in terms of factors like keywords placement, anchor links, advertisements, mobile support, etc. Hence you should constantly keep updating yourself.
Myth #3 You Don’t Need a Website if You’re on Social Media
Social media has its uses, there is no question about it. However, you must have a well-designed and professional-looking website as well because:
- A website helps to build credibility. Your customers will judge you on the basis of your website’s quality.
- A website is extremely important for attracting organic traffic through search engines. This is because you can publish blogs and product pages on your website which can then be displayed in SERPs.
- You can’t cover all the features of your products and services with your social media accounts. You need a proper website for that.
