Dow Jones, MSL Group, NSE, Times of India praise TSCFM at the Summit for Innovation in Management
May 23, 2013
What puts Centre For Management (CFM) a cut above other Indian B-Schools? Well, for starters, you’ve got senior industry professionals from top companies telling you how the institute is moving in the right direction to make its students truly industry-ready.
The Summit for Innovation in Management, recently held at the CFM campus, was unique in that it allowed students to interact with industry leaders from various fields. The event was attended by corporate dignitaries such as Mr. Vijay Mansukhani, MD & Co-founder, Onida; Mr. Omar Qureshi, Editor-in-chief, Zoom; Mr. Ashraf Engineer, Content Head, MSL Group; Mr. V. Mohan, Executive Director/VP – BD, Law & Corp. Affairs, HJ Heinz; Mr. Chandrashekhar Mukherjee, VP – HR, National Stock Exchange (NSE); Mr. Vikesh Wallia, Vice President – Circulation Sales, Times of India; Mr. Sambit Mohanty, Sales Manager – Institutional Sales, Dow Jones; and Mr. Arun Vishwanath, Founder – Trainers Forum & GM – HR & OL, Infiniti Retail (Croma).
The prestigious speakers expressed delight at being invited to a platform where they could directly address students who will be their future employees. Mr. Mansukhani, MD, Onida, said that innovation is the key to grow and succeed in today’s corporate world. He acknowledged CFM’s noteworthy efforts in inculcating an innovative spirit in its students. Agreeing with Mr. Mansukhani, Mr. Omar Qureshi of Zoom added that having a positive attitude and an in-built instinct are just as important as any other skill that an employee brings to the workplace.

Several speakers made it a point to mention the one thing that really sets CFM apart from other B-schools – the Corporate Readiness Score (CRS) which is a student measurement tool to evaluate the five most important capabilities companies look for in potential recruits. Mr. Ashraf Engineer Content Head of MSL Group said he was happy with CFM’s initiative of involving industry experts and consulting them on what they look for while hiring a candidate. He further added, “There is nothing better than getting the industry to interact with your students because academics is one thing and it’s very important, but so is understanding what it’s really like out there, what are the challenges they’ll face in their jobs, what are the actual opportunities and realities that they should know.”
Impressed with the idea of a Corporate Readiness Score, Mr. Vikesh Walia from Times of India said it is a necessary initiative for students as well as recruiters. If students are trained and made market-ready, Mr. Walia noted, it will be convenient for the employer and productive for the company.

CFM’s unique teaching approach – the 4I system – also caught the eye of industry speakers. Many found this concept distinct from what most B-schools offer. Mr. Mohanty of Dow Jones was especially impressed and thought it was crucial in making fresh MBA graduates industry-ready.
Calling the summit a brilliant initiative, Mr. ChandraShekhar Mukherjee from NSE said, “It was a very good experience. I personally also learnt from the participants that spoke and I feel it’s a brilliant initiative. It will go a long way to bridge the gap which is what CFM is trying to do.”
