How Much Can You Earn Through a Blog?
June 07, 2018
The prevalence of Internet in today’s world has opened numerous opportunities for budding entrepreneurs and other self-employed professionals to grow their business and embark on new paths that can offer a secondary income.
If you are determined and have the right skills, then you can earn a decent living with just a laptop and an Internet connection. For instance, blogging is a good option. However, the question is, how much can you earn with it?
All About Blogging
The first thing you need to understand about blogging that it’s not for everybody. There are hundreds of thousands of people in India alone who are blogging for years but still generating a modest monthly income above just a few thousand bucks. The reason behind this is that there are all kinds of websites and blogs on the Internet today and it can be difficult to make your blog stand out. That said, there are bloggers like Amit Agarwal (labnol.org), Shradha Sharma (yourstory.com) who are making lakhs every month.
If you want to make a decent living out of blogging, then you must be really committed to it. However, if you are comfortable with that, then it can certainly become a lucrative career.
The following are some of the various ways to generate money through blogging:
- Digital Advertisements/ Google AdSense: In this, you earn an income by putting digital ads on your blog. However, top networks like Google AdSense allow this only if your blog is getting a certain number of unique visitors every month and also needs certain criteria regarding the content published.
- eBooks: If you have in-depth knowledge about a certain subject or are able to write a unique eBook based on the information available on the Internet, then you can sell it on your blog to generate a passive income.
- Affiliate Marketing: This is another popular way of making money via blogging. In this, you can sign up as an affiliate marketer with, say Amazon (it has its own affiliate program), and then promote their products on your blog. For each sale made through your blog, you get a certain percentage of the selling price as commission.
Blogging may have its share of challenges, but which industry doesn’t? So, if you are willing to work for it, then you should definitely give it a shot and see where it takes you. Good luck!
