How to Create the Perfect Career Plan
February 18, 2019
Creating a career plan is one of the most important things that you can do for your life. It can help you to get your priorities straight and keep you focused.
To create the perfect career plan, just follow these steps:
1. Identify Your Options
Based on your academic background, there are certain industries and job roles that you can easily get access to. So, you have to compare your options with your expectations. Some questions that may ask yourself are:
- Do I want a job in the government sector or the private sector?
- Do I want to work in the management side of a company or the technical/administration side?
2. Reflect on Your Expectations and Needs
Different people have different expectations. Some want to get a salary of ₹12 lakhs per annum, while others won’t settle for any less than ₹30 lakhs per annum. Similarly, some are happy to find a good job in India while others want to work in a foreign country. Naturally, the amount of work required to achieve these feats also varies. You just need to identify your expectations and then mentally prepare yourself the amount of work that you will need to do to meet them. It’s not a good idea to set up highly ambitious goals if you are unwilling to do the work for them.
3. Create Smart Goals
A career plan must have both short-term and long-term goals. However, they must also be “SMART” goals:
- Specific
- Measurable
- Attainable
- Relevant
- Time-bound
The essence of every career plan is having a clear goal and identifying and learning the skills you need to achieve the same. Of course, an easy way to do that is by obtaining the appropriate qualification. For instance, an MBA degree can give a major boost to your career and you don’t have to pay an arm and leg for it either. We are offering an MBA degree from a UK university at a reasonable fee.
