How to Use Pinterest for Marketing?
November 29, 2018
When it comes to social media marketing, platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are usually the prime focus. However, there are other good platforms too which can help in marketing different products and services.
One of these is Pinterest.
Why Pinterest?
Internet users visit Pinterest to draw inspiration and to get ideas for new products that they are interested in buying. In fact, in some countries like the US, it influences the purchase decisions of social media users far more than the other popular platforms like Instagram and Snapchat (source: eMarketer). Thus, it’s a platform that you shouldn’t overlook if you want the best results.
How to Use Pinterest?
There are many ways you can make the most out of Pinterest for marketing and branding, such as:
Using Relevant Keywords
Promoted pins are highly effective on Pinterest. However, you can get even better results with them by using keywords (the recommended number is around 20-30). Try to cover a broader market by using different types of keywords for each promoted pin.
Using Images with Greater Heights
Pinterest is all about interesting and high-quality images. However, if you want your images to stand out, then you should focus on their height as vertical pins perform better on it than the standard pins. The recommended dimensions are 1.3:5 and 2:3.
Optimized Descriptions
Apart from top-quality pins, the text you use to describe them also affects their engagement and visibility. Furthermore, they allow you to add keywords which is a big advantage.
When writing the descriptions for your pins, try to stick to a word limit of 150-300 words. Also, make sure that the descriptions aren’t just there for the “sake” of existing- they should add value too.
Adding Links to Pin and Board Descriptions
Including your website links in pins and/or board descriptions allow the users to visit your website easily. Just make sure that the links aren’t too lengthy or complicated.
