Jobs in Banking Sector After Graduation
The banking sector is still one of the biggest sectors in India that offers ample job opportunities for skilled individuals. In fact, it gave the maximum employment in FY17 (Source: businessworld).

If you are interested in pursuing a career in banking, then you must have the following skills:
  • Analytical thinking
  • Ability to perform in high-pressure environments
  • Communication skills
If you have completed graduation, then you can apply for 3 types of banking jobs in the government sector by clearing the IBPS (Institute of Banking Personnel Selection) exam. These are:

1. Clerk/Office Assistant

Previously, the minimum education qualification required for clerical jobs in the banking sector was 10+2 school education. However, as per the new norms, you must at least be a graduate to apply for clerical jobs.

Some of the key responsibilities of clerks include helping the customers, maintaining records, or taking care of other tasks at the bank as ordered by the bank managers or other officers.

Average salary per month: ₹21,000

2. Probationary Officers (PO)

Most graduates strive for PO jobs in the banks as it offers a much higher salary than clerical jobs and also a chance for promotion for top-level management positions including CEO and MD. The eligibility criteria are graduation and age ranging from 21-30 years.
Average salary per month: ₹46,000

3. Specialist Officers

Specialist offers are hired for different departments in the banks including marketing, engineering, public relations, etc. So, to qualify for these, you must have a bachelor’s degree or diploma in the relevant category. For instance, if you the job of IT specialist officer, then you must have a bachelor’s degree in engineering in computer science or IT stream.

Average salary per month:₹41,000 to ₹64,000
