Moneylife Foundation To Give Crash Course in Financial Literacy to First-Year PGDBM Students

With a membership of over 23,200 in just over 3 years, Moneylife Foundation is one of the fastest growing not-for-profit organisations in India. Moneylife Foundation was set up by Sucheta Dalal, Debashis Basu and Nita Mukherjee. It is a not-for-profit organisation with a mission is to spread financial literacy through workshops, counselling, grievance redressal, lectures by experts and inputs for effective policy-making.

CFM students will have the privilege of listening to Ms. Dalal, Mr. Basu, and Raj Pradhan. This will be followed by an open forum in which students can ask questions to the panel of speakers.

About the Speakers

Sucheta Dalal, Trustee, Moneylife Foundation and Managing Editor, Moneylife Magazine, is one of the best know financial journalists in India. She has worked with most of India’s leading newspapers, including The Times of India, Indian Express, Economic Times and Business Standard. She was awarded the Padma Shree in 2006 for her investigative journalism spanning over 25 years, including the Harshad Mehta scam in 1992. She was a member of the NR Narayana Murthy committee on corporate governance in 2003 and a member of the Primary Market Advisory Committee of SEBI.

Debashis Basu, Trustee, Moneylife Foundation and Editor and Publisher, Moneylife Magazine, is a Chartered Accountant by qualification with over 25 years of experience as a journalist. He is the author of several business books like ‘The Scam’, ‘Pathbreakers’ and the ‘Plain Truth’ Series. Mr. Basu has worked with The Times of India, Business World, Business India, Business Today, Financial Express and has written columns for Business Standard and The Economic Times. He was a member of the Task Force of SEBI on the creation of the IndoNext market segment for smaller companies and serves as the member of the Mutual Fund Advisory Committee of SEBI.

Raj Pradhan has done B.E (Computers) from Bombay University and MBA (Finance) from Cleveland State University (US). He has worked as an Information Technology and Business Consultant in India and the US for over 15 years, including over five years in the health insurance sector. He has been with Moneylife since June 2010 and writes mainly on insurance.
