Tips for Photographing a Special Event
March 22, 2019
Photography is a beautiful art and the trick to taking some of the best photos is planning for different events differently. For instance, if you have to photograph a special event like someone’s wedding or a corporate event, then you should keep the following things in mind:
Pre-Event Shots
A large number of your clients would want to see the photos of the venue before the event’s beginning and the arrival of the guests. If your client is an event planner, then they would need these photos for their portfolio to sell their services to other clients that want similar events. So, be sure to take a good number of appropriate shots before the main event begins.
Being Ready at all Times
At special events, you get numerous photo opportunities. However, you can easily miss some of the best shots by merely blinking at the wrong time. There are so many guests, small events, intimate and fun moments, etc. that you must be attentive at all times so that you don’t miss a thing. You should also be quick to take the photos from the best angles and using the appropriate lenses. For instance, if there are intimate shots, then you want to use a wide lens in mild lighting. Similarly, if you want to capture a stage with lots of people, then you should quickly switch to a long lens.
Obtaining Important Details from the Client
In almost every event, your client will have a mental list of certain shots and important guests that they want you to take photographs of. So, be sure to ask them about it so that you don’t have to explain later why you forgot to take a shot of a key moment or a VIP guest.
