₹1,000 cr Fund for Startups in Priority Areas Planned by Govt

An India Startup Fund with an initial amount of ₹1,000 crores is being planned by the Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). Under this, a wide range of reforms and new funds will be set up that will focus on areas as clean energy solutions, water and waste management, drones, and cyber security.

A senior government official said that the Center is looking to offer seed funds for cutting edge startups. The goal is to fund 5,000 startups in priority areas, they said.
