₹600 cr Farm Loan Waiver Approved by Assam Govt

This Tuesday, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary officially said that the Assam government has given a nod to farm loan waiver worth ₹600 crores that aims to benefit around 8 lakh farmers across the state. Under this, the government will waive 25% of each farmer’s loans that were obtained through public sector banks and Kisan Credit Card (KCC), although the amount will be capped at ₹25,000.
Patowary said that the government has also approved an interest relief scheme that will offer 0% interest rate loans to the farmers starting from the next financial year.
