10-20% Price Hike for Appliances Expected in 2019
October 25, 2018
Consumers can expect to shell out more money for home appliances from January 2019 onwards as the weakening rupee has led to an increase of up to 20% in manufacturing costs.
The chief of a leading home appliance manufacturer said that his company has been absorbing higher costs for weeks now. He said that with the recent customs duty hike, the white goods companies had to increase the prices by as much as 8%. However, he said, that rising production costs are hurting the companies and they won’t be able to hold on beyond December.
