10k cr Released by Centre for Smart Cities Mission

The union government has released Rs. 9,940 crores for various states for them to proceed with the Smart Cities Mission.
As per the government data, Maharashtra received the lion’s share of the funds at Rs. 1,378 crores, followed by Madhya Pradesh which received Rs. 984 crores. The former will use the money for its 8 cities including Nashik and Pune, and the latter for 7 cities. However, it’s Tamil Nadu that has the most number of cities to cover, which is 11.
The Smart Cities Mission covers a total of 99 cities across multiple states and is expected to cost the exchequer around Rs. 2 lakh crores.
