2.25 Lakh Shell Companies Might be Struck Off from RoC

As many as 2.25 lakh firms identified as shell companies by the central government might be struck off from the register of companies (RoC) by the end of the financial year 2018-19. Last financial year, more than 2.26 lakh shell companies were removed from the RoC.
In the current financial year, the special task force identified 16,537 shell companies in the first drive. For the second drive, it identified additional 2,25,910 companies that shall be struck off from the RoC as per Section 248 of the Companies Act, 2013 as well as 7,191 LLPs under Section 75 of the LLP Act, 2008 for failing to file the financial statements for FY16 and FY17.
