25 Lakh Farmers Await Crop Insurance Claims Worth Rs. 800 cr

Around 25 lakh farmers in Maharashtra who were covered under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) are waiting for their crop insurance claims amounting to Rs. 800 crores. Although Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had instructed the insurers to release the funds by June 7, no action has been taken so far.

More than 81 lakh farmers had originally signed up for the PMFBY scheme and nearly 45 lakh were verified as beneficiaries. So far, only 20 lakh farmers were disbursed funds worth Rs. 1,500 crores as 25 lakh farmers are still waiting.
