40% of World’s Stunted Children Live in India, Says Report
According to a report by NGO Sukarya that was released by Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Ashwini Kumar Choubey, more than 40% of the world’s stunted children live in India. 

The report said that stunting is the poor growth experienced by children that suffer repeated infections, and a lack of good nutrition and psychosocial stimulation. It said that malnutrition causes 45% of deaths among children below 5 years. It also said that 60% of malnutrition in India is found in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh.
