Central government employees are expecting news on higher allowance updates regarding the 7th Pay Commission, which would be conveyed by the Empowered Committee of Secretaries. The following are a few key points that the concerned should take note of:
- Recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission are implemented on pensions and salaries. Thus, the allowances will stay at the same rates.
- It was recommended that 52 allowances should be get rid of completely, and 36 be abolished by merging them with other allowances.
- Additional recommendations were proposed for a few universal allowances applicable to categories like doctors, defense force personnel, etc.
