7th Pay Commission report: Key Points to Note

Central government employees are expecting news on higher allowance updates regarding the 7th Pay Commission, which would be conveyed by the Empowered Committee of Secretaries. The following are a few key points that the concerned should take note of:

  • Recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission are implemented on pensions and salaries. Thus, the allowances will stay at the same rates.
  • It was recommended that 52 allowances should be get rid of completely, and 36 be abolished by merging them with other allowances.
  • Additional recommendations were proposed for a few universal allowances applicable to categories like doctors, defense force personnel, etc.
