A Car That Runs Forever? Toyota Conducts Research

Toyota Motor Corp, New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization of Japan, and Sharp Corp have joined hands to explore the possibility of a car that can run forever, at least in principle. The fundamental idea behind the concept is to combine some of the best solar panels and highly-efficient batteries to engineer a car that’s super-efficient and reuses the power generated by solar panels and batteries.

The three entities that are involved in the project will test a Prius for implementation. One of the project managers at Toyota, Koji Makino said that one of the biggest advantages of a solar car is that it’s not dependant on recharging facilities even though it may not drive for a long-range.
