The Supreme Court delivered the much-awaited ruling on the validity of the Aadhaar card. The following are some of key takeaways for you:
- Banks and telecom service providers cannot ask your Aadhaar details. You can avail their services with other appropriate KYC documents.
- However, Aadhaar must be linked with your PAN. You also need to provide Aadhaar when filing your income tax returns.
- Beneficiaries of social welfare schemes and those who receive government subsidies must also provide their Aadhaar numbers.
- Section 57 of the Aadhaar Act has been declared “unconstitutional”. As a result, no private company can ask or seek Aadhaar information.
