Affordable Housing a Threat to Banks: Moody-Icra Report

Although the government continues to push affordable housing in India, a new report compiled by Moody’s and ICRA, sheds light on the increasing delinquencies in the same, which are also expected in 2018.

The report said that the asset quality will be stable this year, but it’s likely that delinquencies will build up further in the affordable housing segment. It also said that the non-performing assets in the same have risen to 1.8%, and its average 90+ days past due (DPD) level has become 7 times that of the traditional loans.
