Amazon, Flipkart seek rollback on new proposed tax system

Online retailers like Amazon, Flipkart are demanding Indian government to reduce the tax on third-party sellers on their platforms, which will create a burden on an emerging industry. The online retail industry will be taxed 1% from April if the proposal is accepted in the parliament.

The new tax proposal will harm the e-commerce sector, according to the presentation prepared by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).

Trade activity will be reduced & the industry will face a huge loss.

Third-party sellers are also demanding to roll back the new tax proposal as they are already paying sales tax.
