Arun Jaitley Expresses Concerns Over Trending Protectionism

Sounding a note of caution on the increasing protectionism, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that we must ponder whether encouraging it is actually beneficial for the economy or rather counter-productive.
Referring to the growing voices of protectionism, especially in the USA, Jaitley said that a new trend is emerging today in the developed economies. Although the result may vary from one economy to another, but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s a matter of concern. For instance, making visa scheme more stringent and promoting American-made products could have a huge impact on the global trade, and thus begs the question- is it really a good idea?
