At 15,000 Transactions per Second, SBI Says “Future Ready”

As the State Bank of India is doing 15,000 transactions per second on average today in comparison to the current utilization of 4,600 per second, it believes it’s future ready. This major hike was a result of the merger of its five associate banks and the Bharatiya Mahila Bank in April.

As per SBI’s annual report of 2016-17, the significant merger is to provide long-term benefits as it’s already put the lender amid the top 50 banks in the world (from the 55th position it held in 2016). It now has more than 42 crore customers, 59,263 ATMs, 24,017 branches, and a balance sheet of size Rs. 33 lakh crore.
